We had a great Memorial Day weekend. In honor of the men and women who defend our country, we stayed at home. The entire time, except when husband went to get a pallet of sod (we have some very bare spots in our backyard, the seed from 2 years ago hadn't done anything) and when we went to church. It was great!
The boys really enjoyed their time. We played outside, a lot! Lots of getting dirty. In fact, when you ask them what they did, they say "dirt." Yes, they love dirt. Husband is trying to dig up a stump, so there is a lot of sand piled up (part of our backyard is very sandy). That is the mecca for the boys! They take their little shovels and cups and shovel dirt from the pile to the cup. Sometimes B puts lots of sand onto S's head. Then it falls all down his shoulders, gets in his ears -- in short, it's a mess to clean up. But then they get to come inside and take a bath. and to take a bath you have to get nekie. I've said it before, they would love to live in a nudist colony. The only problem is that neither husband nor myself would come along.
S has figured out about juice, and has begun to ask for it. He is a very picky little boy, but he will drink water. Of course he loves milk, but he is really good about drinking water (if it has an ice cube) during the day. Milk is at meal times. So I'm not very anxious to give him juice, because I'm afraid he won't drink water anymore. Plus, water is cheaper. So whenever he asks for juice, I just tell him we don't have any. Which is sometimes true. B hasn't said anything about juice.
They got some new books from my dad's first cousins, "E-E" and "Hen" (Henry). They came over on Saturday night for a while, and brought belated birthday gifts. How the boys are loving their new books! S's books are about firetrucks: one actually has a steering wheel and makes a siren sound, the other one is in the shape of a firetruck. I don't think he even realizes it's a book, he just likes to push it around. B's books are about trains, choo-choos. He loves to read them, and requests it quite often. One of the pages in the book has a Humpty Dumpty, and he's just learned about HD. I can't even imitate him saying HD, but it's funny.
Have a great Tuesday!
