More Swimming

This afternoon we took the boys "swimming". It wasn't really swimming. Husband's grandparents have retired about 10 minutes from where we live, and they live on the water. It's a river but a rather large river. They have a little beach area where all the kids play. Fortunately the water is very very shallow, so they can sit in the water and have a big time.

Today they had lots of fun. Each had a bucket and a shovel, and they would just use each to splash the water. S enjoyed walking around, walking too far away from Mommy, and eating sand. Yes people, my child ate sand. Multiple times. He also tried (successfully) to drink the nasty river water. Fortunately husband's mother remembered the inflatable pool she has. But the water from the hose was so cold, S wouldn't play in it. So it was back to the sand. He was no longer fascinated with the taste, instead he wanted to pick up handfulls and put it either in his grandmother's hand or in the bucket. He did that over and over. Finally B was ready to get out, so husband took B to the outside shower and cleaned him up. Then I took him to dress him while husband dealt with the very messy S.

It was a great Saturday. Husband got some yard work done, and the boys took a 3+ hour nap! And then swimming! What more could you want?

We've taught the boys to find their noses. Both think it's really funny and make a face when they find it. We were trying to teach them to find their ears, but ears are not as much fun as noses. They are sound asleep right now. S on his back and B on his tummy. Now if they'll only stay that way all night! The last several nights we've been getting up at different times with each one. Not a fun way to spend your nocturnal hours. Speaking of nocturnal, it's time for "night night" for mommy! Happy Saturday night to you all!
