Big Night for Seth

Seth ate regular food tonight.

This, friends, is HUGE.

He has always been a picky eater and I'm sure I am to blame (I, too, am picky). He actually had a more varied diet when he was eating baby food. But once he started eating table food, things changed. He will always always always eat peanut butter. In fact, I usually know he's sick when he won't eat peanut butter. But he needs other nutrients. So usually he eats slices of block cheddar cheese and string beans for supper. Every day. And almost daily we have to put him in time out during supper because he won't eat.

But tonight husband said "let's see if he'll eat what we are eating". We had pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, and we had salad but they had string beans. He ate every bit of it. Ben had seconds, which isn't really surprising. He's a good eater, as evidenced by his larger size.

We made a big deal when he cleaned his plate. We all clapped and said "good job!" to him. He smiled, I think he was proud of himself. So fingers crossed this will continue.

Some other things: last week I made Seth mad about something, I can't even remember what it was, and he told me "my tired of this". I wonder where he's heard that ? (he regularly substitutes my for I. I think this is normal for his age.) Also he's learned to say he's very busy and don't bother me.

Oh, and last night at church, he AND Ben willingly went to the nursery by themselves with a lady they'd never seen before. Normally, we have a huge production about going to the nursery. I have to tell them which adult will be there, if other kids will be there, what toys they will play with. I get tired before I can even get out of the car. Last night we had two different ladies splitting the time, but the first one never showed up. I think she forgot. So I took the boys to youth group with me. It was fine, it was mid highs, and I don't think they even noticed. Sometimes middle schoolers are a bit too caught up in themselves to notice toddlers. The second mom came a little early (yay!) and saw me in the office trying to print something, and tried to get the boys to go with her to the nursery. I did entice them (bribe?) by telling them if they went with Ms. Stacey they could eat peanut butter and banana, their supper. Upon hearing the mention of food, they took off.

Ben has a boo boo. On Saturday, while Mom and I were riding in the Jacksonville Veteran's Day Parade (I'm famous now), Ben slipped whle playing outside, and scraped his side on a small holly tree stump. Ben is very dramatic, and I'm sure that hurt, so Brian had his hands full trying to console Ben, yet clean the wound, etc. Oh and during all this, Ben needed a new diaper, which he resists. But Brian persevered and all is well. Ben loves to tell you about his boo boo. The only thing is, Ben talks very very fast. You really have to pay attention to keep up. Seth's job was to dig the stump up. He accomplished this by taking dirt from one pile and pouring it onto the stump.

And now it is bed time. Apparently it's going to be a rainy week, so no -- or very little -- playing outside. Looks like I'm going to have to get creative. They've been enjoying The Great Pumpkin, thanks to Dad for letting us borrow it! They ask to watch it usually every day.

New pictures later this week!
