First Easter Egg Hunt

Sunday was the boys' first Easter Egg Hunt! And it was so exciting! S really got into it. He had a basket FULL of eggs. B wanted to open each egg to get out the box of raisins, and didn't really care about putting eggs into his basket. But they had fun. And we had a luncheon after the egg hunt. Husband was busy talking to someone, and didn't notice S eating all of his potato chips AND his chocolate cookie! I look over and S is chowing down. Great. He's discovered chocolate. He really won't eat real food now.

Still finishing up Easter sewing. It takes a long time since I'm chasing after short people while trying to smock. But tonight it should be finished. Hooray!

There are still 2 more egg hunts we are to attend before Sunday. Whew! That's a lot of candy/raisins. (I'm the evil mommy who doesn't allow her children to eat candy. One day, just not now. They're too little.)

Tomorrow at Bible Study the children are supposed to sing. They're always so cute, marching in to the tune of "In the Lord's Army". Mine, of course, can't sing, but they know some of the hand motions. Especially "This Little Light of Mine." That is a favorite of B. He loves to hold his light up high!

Must get back to the sewing. Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Notice the rabbit in B's pocket. That was one of the items in his egg. And you can see he doesn't care about the eggs, only the boxes of raisins.

Jumping, Horse Riding, "Goat"

B can now jump. Just today he finally got off the ground!! He's never been able to get air under those feet, but today he did!

We have a hobby horse. They both love it. I've only got pics of S on it, but B rides it as well. Wednesday morning I was about to head to the shower when I heard S waking up. I quickly turned on the TV to PBS, and shut the door to my room. Sure enough, when I got back, he was sitting on his horse in front of the TV.

S is a very picky eater. He doesn't eat much regular food, but he does like to eat paper and dirt. No idea why, but he does. So yesterday husband started telling S he was a goat. Well, that was just the funniest thing to B. He laughed and laughed over that. We've been saying "GOAT" and then he just errupts in laughter.

Someone that husband works with likes to give us hand-me-down boys clothes. I don't complain! I always go through it, pick out what will work for us, and give the others to someone who needs them. We usually get some really good play clothes. This time we got some new pajamas!! S is wearing the superman PJs tonight, and B is wearing his Spiderman PJs. I've only got a pic of S, but will work on more B pics.

Have a great weekend! No Superman outfit is complete without a CAPE! (it's removable for night time)Did I mention this horse is partially bald?Did I mention they've learned to drink from a straw?

This is B with his Aunt K. He had to be with her all the time during her visit. I don't think she minded!

Weekend Recap

Well our weekend was a good one. No one got locked out. That, in itself, is enough to warrant a party.

Husband's sister came to visit. Aunt K. B just loved his Aunt K. Actually, all he can say is the "k" sound, but that was enough for auntie. Aunt K had to do everything for little B: change his diaper, help with his bath, play with his toys, read him a book, hold his hand. And, she has a dog! The boys just love dogs. So, since we have a fenced in backyard, she brought Tucker the dog. We have a sliding glass door (which you all know about) and the dog could be seen clearly from that door. So the boys would congregate in front of that door to look at "gah", which is B's word for dog. We think he's repeating the ending sound.

S loved his aunt as well, but B was just overcome with auntie joy.

Our church had a yard sale, and I bought a bald hobby-horse. I finally brought it in yesterday afternoon. S immediately jumped on and began riding. B can actually say "hor", but S isn't there yet. The horse seems to have cancer; his tail is falling out. In clumps! I've got to get the vacuum out and clean up behind him.

I've got some big sewing to get done this week. Easter is in less than 2 weeks, and between now and then we have 3 egg hunts. That's some serious pressure for cute mommy-made outfits. So everyone have a great day, and I'll be back again this week with updates and pictures.

New Trick

Hey everybody, guess what S can do? He can lock mommy out of the house! Oh yes. What fun.

This morning at 7am, I decided (in my pajamas) to run outside before the rain came and bring the toys into the garage. So I pulled on a sweatshirt, and went out the sliding glass door. B was still eating his breakfast. I finished and came back to open the door. Which was locked. S had pulled the little lock-thingie down.

So I was stuck outside at 7:15 wearing pajamas and a sweatshirt, with no keys, no phone, and my children were in the house. It was great. I ran down the street to my neighbor's house, and of course woke her up. Her child doesn't wake up at 5:53am like mine do. But as I knocked on the door, I did yell "It's Amanda, I have an emergency" so she wouldn't think I was paying a social call at 7:15. So I called husband and had him come home from work to unlock the door. But remember, he works 30 minutes from the house.

I went back home and sat on the steps by the glass door and waited. I tried to get S to unlock the door, but all he could do was pull on the door. He has no idea what he did. Then he got bored and ran away to play. So I tried to break in the window. No luck there. I could never be a burglar.
Husband came home and opened the door. We decided immediately to do something about this key-thing. I don't really want to post our solution on the world-wide internet, but let's just say we are learning from this experience. And I have eaten 2/3 of a box of Girl Scout cookies (old name is Samoas, but now they call them Caramal de Lites) to comfort myself after such a morning. I won't even tell you how we had to go to the grocery store in the rain, and no we didn't get a front row parking spot. Nor will I bored you with the details of children being completely attached to mommy at play-group this morning, so attached that I couldn't refresh my coffee because that would have required me to move. Off of the floor. Which was not padded very well. Thank you, Lord, for Fridays. And I truly mean this.
In other news, S has decided he likes oranges. This is HUGE. He never tries new foods.

Not to leave B out, his vocabulary is really increasing by leaps & bounds. He picks up words without me realizing it. Fortunately neither husband nor I have potty mouthes, otherwise we'd have to make some major changes. I have a habit of saying "Oh crap" when I drop something, or make a mistake, etc. S has tried to mimic that! B is now saying "silly", or his version of silly. He doesn't pronounce "l" very well. They come out more like "y". Which might be good if we spoke Spanish.
Below are some pics from the last week or two. Have a great weekend!

Cold, Drinking through a Straw

B has a new word: cold. He understands how to use it. Before bedtime, either husband or I will sit both boys in our lap, cover their legs with a blanket, and let them hold their bedtime lovey animals while we read them books. B now will stick his feet out from the blanket and say "col col". His feet are cold!

B and S can drink through a straw now. This morning we were playing outside, so I fixed all of us water cups and snacks. Of course they had sippy cups and I had the large cup with a straw I brought home from the hospital (we call it my $10,000 cup). Next thing I know, S has gotten my cup and is drinking a lot of water out of the straw! Then B did it! They were quite proud of themselves, and as we walked around the neighborhood in the wagon, they took turns drinking all of my water!

It's been warm so we've been playing outside as much as possible. S can even say "outside" and he throws tantrums when I say it's time to come inside. Fortunately by the time I get him in, kicking and screaming, I turn on the water in the bathroom sink and he comes running to wash his hands. We generally give them a bath every other day, but with all of this outside playing, we might have to move to daily bathes. They would love that. How fortunate we are they like to clean themselves. I hear that might change at some point, but we won't think about that now!
