New Duds

Spring is quickly approaching. Hooray! We have had several snowfalls this year, very unusual for the coast. It was fun and pretty, but we're tired of the cold! Bring on spring!

The boys are 4, will be 5 in May, and they've definitely outgrown knee socks and smocking. I held out as long as I could! Of course now I have a new smocking victim, Helen. Knowing they would need an Easter outfit and something for a family wedding the first weekend of March, I found suits online in January and got them for half-price. Hooray for buying off season!

And then Seth announced he needed a tie. He is ready to start looking like Daddy. Brian took them to Belk, and while he didn't find anything for children, Ben spotted a man's bow tie and decided he wanted a bow tie. An orange one, to be exact. I was able to dig out some orange fabric and make Ben a bow tie, but we had to buy Seth's neck tie. So here you have it, two handsome little men.

They were really proud of their new suits. Seth wanted to wear his necktie to preschool.

These pictures were taken right after the wedding. I can't even tell you how well-behaved they were during the wedding! The wedding took place at Saint David's School in Raleigh, from which the bride graduated. The chapel was really beautiful, but a different setup than I have seen. The pews faced the center isle, so instead of facing the front of the chapel, we faced the guests on the other side. The boys sat with their grandparents (Boyettes) behind us and Brian, Helen, and I on the pew in front of them. That apparently worked great because the boys did not utter one word until the very end. During the recessional Seth asked "Hey, where is everybody going?" to which Ben responded "It's over. See them going up the stairs?" (the chapel was almost like a basement, entering the school on the street level and going down stairs to the chapel) I think most people heard them!

Helen was mostly quiet. We had to utilize the pacifier during the ceremony to keep her quiet, though she enjoyed blowing kisses to the man beside us! He was a good sport, especially as she liked to give him and then take away from him the wedding bulletin.

The reception was lots of fun. The buffet had some child-friendly food.

And then came the dancing. Seth wanted to dance with me, so we did for a bit, but Ben also needed attention yet he did not want to dance. This is where it gets tricky with multiple children and only one mommy. As I sat with Ben, one of the bridesmaids offered to dance with Seth. That was the last I saw of him for quite a while. He cut a rug! Everything she did Seth tried to do. He even kept up with her during the line dances! I think he was a hit, and the bridesmaid got a workout. I hope she could walk the next morning! Seth was featured on the video of the reception. On more than one occasion I saw a video camera in his face!

I will leave you with my very favorite picture. They were goofing off but we couldn't have arranged this any better. (We didn't get any pictures of Helen, but I'll try to take some at another time.)
