Summer Fun
Summertime in our house is relaxed. I try to have as few commitments as possible, and we play. Our favorite days are the ones where we stay at home and never leave our property, unless we ride in the stroller.
I might add that it's hot here, so my boys live in sleeveless shirts in the summer. It also helps their farmer tans!
Here they are doing some of their favorite things, reading books & having a picnic (barefoot).

A Future Garden!
I've been after husband to till up a plot for me to have a garden. Finally, his father loaned us the tiller (for a different project) and we decided to go ahead and till up some garden area! It's going to take a lot of work to get it ready, because that area was natural -- no grass, no care applied to it, but LOTS & LOTS of weeds. Weeds with impressive root systems. I've pulled up a small section of the roots, but then we discovered the tilled area has some poison ivy somewhere, so we have to get rid of that before I can continue. The boys will undoubtedly be digging in the dirt with me, so we need to eliminate harmful things.
I had the boys put on their rain boots for two reasons. First, the weeds are tall and I wanted them to have some protection on their ankles/legs. Secondly, it reminded me of my grandmother wearing her clear plastic galoshes/over shoes to the garden in the mornings!

Seth did not like the noise of the tiller, so he was standing off to the side by himself.

Toys at Grandmother's
These pictures were taken when family was in town, over at the "River", or where husband's grandparents have retired and where his parents have a beach trailer. The boys LOVE to go spend time at Grandmother's beach trailer. She always finds fun toys for them!
Yes, there are more pictures of Seth, but Ben was sitting in his aunt's lap most of the time.

WET!!
Yesterday was hot. Soon after all of these pictures were taken, we had a thunderstorm. It rained, A LOT! But we needed it, so it was welcomed.
Husband was working on an area of our front yard, and had turned the sprinkler on to water that area. I guess the boys decided to make our yard a water park! They had a ball!

I Can't Talk
One of the items mentioned by the nurse at the boys' 3 year well check was stuttering. The nurse said it is very normal for children at this age to stutter, because their minds are working so fast, their mouths can't keep up.
I have that problem too!
Anyway, I was telling her Ben does this. Usually he can say the entire word, he just can't get the next word out. It's different than other stuttering I've heard. It's actually gotten a little more pronounced lately, not that we are concerned.
This afternoon he was trying to tell husband something, and he was stuttering, trying to get a word out. Finally he stopped and said "I can't talk." It was funny! It didn't stop him, he kept on going. Not much will keep Ben from talking.

What are the Boys Up To?
Staying busy! With the earlier sunrises, they've also been rising earlier, which means earlier nap, which means earlier bed times!
We've been trying to get outside in the early mornings to play, because it is getting hot very quickly. They love to help me water the flowers.
Potty training is going well. Seth's done great, with only two accidents since we started. Ben is getting better. He is actually beginning to tell us he needs to use the bathroom, as opposed to wetting his pants and just playing in wet pants.
They love books. I finally moved the books to their level where they can reach them. I often find the boys with 4-5 books each, sitting on the floor or in their beds, "reading".
Riding in the stroller is still fun to them. I try to walk several times per week with a neighbor-friend, and the boys often ask if we can ride in the stroller with them!
I'm really enjoying our lazy summer days. It's not lazy in the sense that we sit around the house all day, but lazy in that we don't have many commitments. I like to keep our days free for play time and enjoying time at home!
