On Sunday and Monday of this week, Seth had a high fever. It finally broke on Tuesday morning, so even though he felt much better, I kept him home so he would be fever-free for 24hrs before returning to school.
We had a fabulous Tuesday. We played outside a little, rode bikes - just the three of us, Ben wasn't around, so Seth didn't have to share with him, or anything unpleasant like that. Seth really was a joy.
On Wednesday morning, he whined and cried before we even got in the van. He didn't want to go to school. On the ride there, we prayed and he still cried. Ben eventually put his fingers in his ears and complained that Seth was too loud! By the time we got to school, Seth was really upset, and I had to park and take him in. There was no way I could drop him off at the front door (there are teachers around to ensure no one snatches your kid). He wouldn't get out of the van. So I parked, and we all got out and walked in. Seth clung to my leg the entire time, crying. Ben is walking oh so nonchalantly. Once we get into the building Seth's crying only intensifies. Ben comments "Everyone is going to hear you" in a very annoyed tone. I told Ben to go on to class.
Seth and I walked all the way down the hall with him attached to me, and me holding a 25lb baby. I'm sure we were a sight. His teacher was in the hall, and met me. I told her I didn't know what to do, but I would totally follow her lead. She let me go into the classroom with him, help him put away his backpack and lunch box, etc. He wouldn't even sit in his chair. Finally it was 8am and time for morning news, which is a TV "show" done by the older kids at school. It's pretty cute. They have to say the Pledge and sing the National Anthem. After that, his teacher tore him off of me and I left. I left my crying screaming baby. That was pretty horrible. I treated myself to Dunkin Donuts coffee & doughnut. Mid morning she sent me an email that he was fine.
All is better today. He hopped out of the van this morning and happily be-bopped into school.
He also colored a picture for his teacher last night. He drew a stick figure, with hair - all in pink. He gave her fancy shoes because yesterday she wore fancy shoes to school! He already asked me if he could hug her. I foresee that coming soon!
