We're sick. Everyone except the husband. Me and the boys have colds, and we're drugged up. It's great fun.
The best part, was when our roof leaked during the strange wind storm/nor'easter we had on Thursday/Friday of last week. At 4:30am on Friday, I heard Seth cry out "My need my mommy!" Usually that means he lost a paci. So I ran in, plugged him up, and was waiting to see if he had gone back to sleep when I felt it. Water. Bouncing off of his mattress. I yelled for Brian to come in the room, and he confirmed there was water coming from the ceiling onto Seth's mattress. I took Seth back to our room and put him in bed with us.
Brian got a mixing bowl and put it on Seth's bed to catch the drip. It was 4:30am. The rain was coming down and it was dark. So we both were lying in bed thinking about what to do. I was praying that we didn't need a new roof. I foresaw us cleaning out our savings for a new roof and then being really really really poor. Brian, being much more practical, decided to climb up into the attic at 4:30am to see what was happening.
He confirmed that it was a small leak. Apparently it's where two pieces of plywood come together, and on Saturday once it stopped raining, he climbed up on the roof and calked the area where the shingle had blown back. We're thinking, and praying, that fixed it. Oh, and thankfully one of the previous owners had this really ugly orange plant hook-thing in the ceiling above Seth's bed. We took that thing down, but it left a small hole in the ceiling. If that hole hadn't been there, the water would have just ponded creating a much larger problem.
Thankfully this all happened on Friday morning, and not any other day that week. Brian was out of town on business all week, and got in Thursday afternoon. Just in time!
